Everything else on this page is a continuous stretch of spectrum. 60 meters is four narrow channels plus one 15 kHz segment, and you may not transmit anywhere in between. It is shared with federal government users, and amateurs are secondary — if a primary user appears, you stop.
⚠️ You dial the suppressed carrier, not the channel centre. Channel 1 is centred on 5332 kHz but you set the radio to 5330.5 USB. Get this wrong and you are transmitting outside the channel. This trips up nearly everyone the first time.
📅 This changed on 13 February 2026. The old channel at 5358.5 kHz is gone — it was absorbed into the new 5351.5 – 5366.5 kHz segment. That segment is limited to 9.15 watts ERP, while the four remaining channels still allow 100 watts ERP. Two different power limits on one band.
Propagation-wise it lives between 80 and 40: a dependable regional night band, good for a few hundred to a thousand miles. That reliability is why it is the emergency and disaster-relief band.
